Assassin Snail (Anentome helena)

Assassin Snail (Anentome helena) is a unique freshwater snail famous for controlling pest snail populations. With its yellow-and-brown banded shell and active behaviour, it’s both useful and interesting to watch in the aquarium.

Assassin Snails are carnivorous and mainly feed on other snails, leftover food and meaty sinking pellets. They won’t eat healthy plants, making them ideal for planted tanks. Best kept in a stable, well-oxygenated aquarium with sand or fine gravel so they can burrow. They are generally peaceful but may prey on very small or weak shrimp, so keep that in mind when stocking your tank.
